What hay should I feed my guinea pigs?

Guinea pigs don’t usually overeat, but it’s important to provide the proper balance of pellets, hay and fresh vegetables and of course healthy treats in moderation.

Provide an unlimited quantity of fresh hay every day. Guinea pigs need continuous access to hay to aid their digestion and limit the growth of their teeth. Types of hay most recommended are Timothy, Oaten, Wheaten, Pasture, Paddock, Meadow or Ryegrass hay

Guinea pigs should not be fed Lucerne (alfalfa) or Clover hay, as these are too high in protein and calcium.
