Boarding Health Requirements
At Bree & Co, the health and safety of every pet in our care is our top priority. To protect all animals during their stay, we require proof of specific treatments and vaccinations before check-in. Please read the requirements below carefully for your pet type.
🐹 Guinea Pig Boarding Requirements
Flea & Mite Treatment
All guinea pigs boarding with us must have received a recent flea and mite treatment before their stay. Untreated parasites spread quickly in a shared environment and can cause serious discomfort and health issues for every guinea pig in our facility.
- Treatment window: Must have been administered within the last 3 months before the end of your guinea pig’s stay.
- Accepted treatments: Vet-prescribed topical treatments such as Revolution (selamectin) or ivermectin-based treatments. Over-the-counter flea treatments designed for cats or dogs are not accepted, as many are toxic to guinea pigs.
- Proof required: A receipt, invoice, or certificate from your vet clearly showing the treatment type, date administered, and your pet’s name or description.
⚠️ Without valid proof of flea and mite treatment, we will be unable to accept your guinea pig for boarding.
🐰 Rabbit Boarding Requirements
Rabbits boarding with us must meet two health requirements before check-in: a current calicivirus vaccination and recent flea and mite treatment.
1. Calicivirus (RHDV) Vaccination
Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious and often fatal disease. Vaccination is the only reliable protection, and it is essential for any rabbit entering a shared boarding environment.
- Accepted vaccinations:
- Six-month vaccination – must be valid (not expired) at the time of check-in.
- Annual vaccination – must be valid (not expired) at the time of check-in.
- Proof required: A vaccination certificate or vet receipt clearly showing the vaccine type, date administered, and next due date.
⚠️ Without valid proof of an up-to-date calicivirus vaccination, we will be unable to accept your rabbit for boarding.
2. Flea & Mite Treatment
Just like guinea pigs, all rabbits must be treated for fleas and mites before boarding to prevent the spread of parasites across our facility.
- Treatment window: Must have been administered within the last 3 months before the end of your rabbit’s stay.
- Accepted treatments: Vet-prescribed treatments such as Revolution (selamectin). Do not use Frontline (fipronil) or any treatment not approved for rabbits, as these can be fatal.
- Proof required: A receipt, invoice, or certificate from your vet clearly showing the treatment type, date administered, and your pet’s name or description.
⚠️ Without valid proof of flea and mite treatment, we will be unable to accept your rabbit for boarding.
📋 How to Provide Proof
You can submit your proof of treatment and vaccination using either of the following methods:
- Upload during booking – When you book your boarding stay, use the upload field to attach a clear photo or scan of your receipt or certificate.
- Email us – Send a clear photo or scan to [email protected] at least 48 hours before check-in. Please include your pet’s name and booking dates in the email.
Tip: Take a photo of your vet receipt straight after your appointment so you have it ready when you book.

In this video, nurse Sanja demonstrates how to safely apply Revolution to a guinea pig. The same technique applies to rabbits. Always check the label instructions for the correct dosage and frequency, and consult your vet if you’re unsure.
Remember: Mite treatment must be prescribed or recommended by your vet. Do not use over-the-counter flea treatments designed for cats or dogs, as these can be toxic to guinea pigs and rabbits.
