What should guinea pigs eat?
- Hay, unlimited: hay should be most of their diet. Keep it fresh and off the floor in a hay bag.
- Pellets, a small daily serve: choose a guinea pig pellet with added vitamin C, such as Oxbow Essentials or Science Selective.
- Fresh veg every day: leafy greens plus vitamin C-rich veg such as capsicum.
- Fresh water: always available, from a bottle or bowl.
Young guinea pigs (under about 6 months) do best on a young guinea pig formula, then move to an adult pellet.
